Neurosurgery

We welcome you as a patient and appreciate the opportunity to provide you with medical services. The following information is designed to answer questions many patients have. We want you to know about our policies and methods of practice. The more you know, the more we can be of service. If you have any questions, please ask our staff.

NEUROSURGERY

Neurosurgery is a surgical specialty involved in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders and injuries of the nervous system, which includes the brain, spine, spinal cord and nerves. A neurological surgeon is a consultant who may provide either surgical or nonsurgical care, depending upon the nature of the injury or illness.

OFFICE HOURS

The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding holidays.

APPOINTMENTS

Patients are seen by appointment only on referral from their primary care physician or other consultant. At the time of your first visit we will begin a permanent record. Please bring or ask your health care provider to send your records or X-rays to our office. Our staff will be happy to help you in obtaining any of these. You also will be asked to complete a medical history and registration form. Please bring your insurance information, and plan to arrive about 30 minutes early for your initial office visit.

In order to make your appointment as easy as possible, we will try to contact you the day before your appointment to confirm that all requested studies have been performed and to confirm your appointment time. If you do not have a telephone or are unable to be reached during our office hours, please contact our office 24 hours prior to your appointment for confirmation.

We make every effort to honor all time commitments, however there are occasions when this is not possible. Patient emergencies arise or there are unforeseeable delays. We will do our best to communicate this to you and make suitable arrangements.

As a courtesy to other patients, we ask if you are unable to keep your appointment or are going to be late, please call the office as soon as possible.

In an emergency, call our office at (505) 609-6580, 24 hours a day or contact the nearest hospital emergency room.
