outside of San Jaun Regional Rehabilitation Hospital

The San Juan Regional Rehabilitation Hospital opened January 1, 1989 as a joint venture of San Juan Regional Medical Center and a local neurosurgeon. Since 1996, we have operated as a non-profit hospital wholly owned by San Juan Regional Medical Center. We are governed by a board of directors comprised equally of members from the Medical Center board and non-associated members of the public.

Our existence is owed to a need for a licensed, acute rehabilitation hospital to serve the Four Corners area of New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Arizona. For many years before we were established, patients were sent to Albuquerque, Phoenix or Denver from this area. Traveling those distances entailed hardship on both the patients and their families.

We are unique in the area because not only are we the only licensed acute rehabilitation hospital in the Four Corners, but we also have 24 hour physician availability, certified rehabilitation R.N.s and our discharge rate to home and community is higher than both the regional and national averages.
