Using the newest technologies, San Juan Regional Medical Center's Cardiopulmonary Department provides services related to respiratory therapy, pulmonary rehabilitation, cardiac stress tests, holter heart monitors, cardiac catheterization, cardiac rehabilitation and endoscopic examinations. Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac Rehabilitation is designed to help people with cardiovascular disease to attain and maintain their optimal health. This service requires a physician's order, and may begin during hospitalization or on an outpatient basis. One of the primary goals of cardiac rehabilitation is for the participant to become independent; learning self monitoring skills and reducing heart risk factors in their lives. The phase two program is covered by Medicare and most other insurances. This program requires meeting with a cardiac rehabilitation nurse several times a week for sessions that include education and a monitored exercise program, and is followed by a maintenance phase. Those who could benefit from a cardiac rehabilitation program are individuals with chronic cardiovascular disease, those who have had a previous heart attack, or have undergone coronary artery bypass grafting or angioplasty.
